A scared and "patriotic" Congress has now enabled the U.S. military to "join at the hip" with the Imperial Presidency that was designed by Dick Cheney to avoid Congressional "interference." The new, Israeli-like Homeland Security Department was created to avoid violating the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act: to enable (otherwise illegal) federal "intelligence" of state, county and local law enforcement (who might otherwise be reluctant to lock up their local citizens). Ironically, this national police state apparatus is similar to Chinese MSS/PAP and Russian FSB. As Barry Goldwater once said, "In defeating them, we will become like them."
The new Executive power (authorized by special interest-backed Congress in the War Powers Act) is clearly preparing "contingencies" for the suspension of American democracy- if "We the People" interfere with the permanent resource-access war state: that creates "good career jobs" and "heroes" in the military and "high paying" defense contractor jobs at home (as long as future enemies buy American Treasury debt to finance another carrier battle group).
Today, the "battle" for American access to cheap natural resources is against Muslim nations, since those countries control vast swaths of global resources.
What's next?
"Iran" is always in the news. And "Chinese cyber crime" is hot in the corporate media (which wants SOPA and PIPA legislation to control the "commerce" of free speech).
In February, 2012, Jan Brewer, governor of Arizona, said on national TV, "everybody knows the state of Mexico is controlled by drug cartels." (ignoring that Nogales, Mexico, south of Tucson has lowered their murder rate since 2003 and is one of the safest places to be in Mexico!) That same month, Wyoming's special interest (NRA) legislature passed a "doomsday" bill.
There will not be a "conspiracy" that causes the lockdown and death of American democracy. Instead, it will be a quantum, cloud-like collapse of national consciousness and a polarizing fascist overlay of a national culture's willingness to consider "unrealistic, Ron Paul" alternatives to a war machine, a national culture of religious/ethnic hate and a bankruptcy of common sense because everyone is freaked out and scared (the Wyoming legislature's NRA mind set: Buy a gun, "be ready" to murder your neighbor before they murder you).
At this rate, by 2016, certainly by 2020, American citizens who dare speak out like this web page does, may be "branded" by Homeland Security Intelligence (HSI): Allowing "enhanced security measures" at TSA checkpoints (to harass and incite to possible arrest, thus justifying "ongoing concern"), black listing from certain jobs (university professors from other nations), etc.
"Good citizens keep their mouths shut, look the other way and don't post online"
Step by step, law by law...
America is thus becoming Argentina, 1978...Chile 1974...Guatemala 1954...Iran 1953... as Nemesis, the divine spirit of retribution, comes home to lay the eggs of fascist "Security, in the name of real American values, one nation under God," just as Sinclair Lewis warned in 1935 (quote, page left). I am appalled, seeing in 2012 what I fictionally described in a novel in 2002 (link on left).
No nation in history has EVER been able to maintain foreign military imperialism... and a democracy at home!
NOT ONE!
Unless "We the People" take back our government:
American democracy will fall, as surely as the empires of Rome, France, Germany and Russia did, before us!
